SurviveAndConquerCoaching - Do You Know How to Put Your Offline Business Online... and Succeed?
Powered by MaxBlogPress

I started planning on Friday night…

I had two blogs that I wanted to reorganize and start heavily promoting. They are part of this year's strategy and I REALLY want to get them active and productive.

Both of them are WordPress sites and I had created new themes for them using Artisteer — one of the best buys of the last year, btw!

I had tweaked the look of each site but, more importantly, I was trying a new layout, based on a successful blog. I had analyzed the layout of that blog and decided that I could come pretty close using Artisteer…

OK, I get the themes uploaded and activated. I did spend some time tweaking, but hey, I'm a designer… that's what we do! LOL

Next, I needed to install an ecommerce plugin. Now this is a WONDERFUL plugin that I am already using, successfully, on two other sites… so, how long can it take? Really…

So, here we are on Sunday night. I ran into trouble on the first site and have been trying to figure out the issues for the last day and a half. I emailed the plugin developer. His assistant / partner took a look and yep, there were problems, but nothing obvious. She offered to have him look at it ASAP, but I said, no… let me try a couple of more things.

So, here I am late Sunday night and I have given up. I'm going to email Ivy and ask her to have Amin take a look…

I can't get past the feeling that I have missed something obvious, but, well, there you are…

Meanwhile, in my frustration, I spent a couple of hours looking at shiny, pretty things and figuring out how I can incorporate them into these (stalled) site re-dos but hey, I'm a designer… that's what we do! LOL

Anyway, this all has turned out to be that simple weekend remodeling project where you start to replace the sink in the bathroom, only to discover that extensive and here to fore unknown water damage means that the floor needs to be replaced AFTER the sink has been replumbed and BEFORE the new sink can be installed….

I try to remind my clients that putting a business online can take as much time and effort as opening a new branch office — which when you think about it — is actually what you are doing!

Sharing the road to success (… and throwing in the towel on this weekend's To Do List)
